Description 'Toilets and churches:
a search for silence' series
The project titled' Toilets and churches: a search for silence', is an
investigation into those urban spaces that have a profound silent character
or nature. Where in a crowded urban area (cityscapes) do you find peace
of mind without any restrictions?
A strong personal preference for spaces where time for thought and contemplation
is made possible without any questions asked, forms the backbone of this
concept.
No interferance...Fastness of space, even when its not big, are what I'm
seeking for. In an era where communication is sought for at every given
time or destination.. I seek silence.
Spaces with different characters and functions will be dissected and used
for upcoming sculptures. The title only illustrates two very different
spaces that have similar characteristics.
For this particular reason I designed a 'space' where its secluded appearance
forces your focuss to be fixed. I wanted to emphasize both surroundings
and the space created as part of the sculptural design. Doing so, making
the viewer aware of its whereabouts.
